Dear
Friends,
During
a controversial time in history with advocates and
opponents of gay marriage
fighting
over our right to partner under law, I propose that we
must not only fight for our
relationship
rights from the outside in, but we
must also be fighting for our relationships
from the
inside out. The
reason we are fighting is to protect what is important to
us.
While
legal protections are a
critically important and a symbolic step toward the
validation and protection
of our relationships, this is not the only effort we need
to put into protecting our relationships!
For
far too long gay couples have been partnering in silence
and living invisible lives together.
As our love and relationships are becoming more and more
visible, so too do our relationship
struggles and challenges. Relationships are hard work. In
fact, a surprisingly large
number of couples actually work quite hard at their
relationships without ever achieving
an OUTstanding relationship. Why is that? Because the work
they are doing is not
the right work!
It
has taken me fifteen years, two degrees, special
certifications, countless of books,
experience
with hundreds of couples, and many of my own relationship
experiences to figure out
what I've learned so far about love and relationships. I
consider what I know to be a work
in continual progress. When I reflect on the time, energy
and resources I have put into understanding
love and relationships, and then compare my investment to
that of the average person's
investment, it is amazes me to think that anybody keeps a
relationship going.
I
believe knowledge truly is power. How we view our
relationships, what we expect from them,
and how we learn to treat them all contribute to the
success or demise of our most valuable
investment in life: our primary intimate relationship.
I offer a variety of trainings
to begin bringing valuable information to gay men and
lesbians. The trainings
range from short speaking engagements to two-day intensive
workshops. If you would
like to bring me to your city, or your organization,
please contact me with your questions
or to discuss how we can create a customized workshop to
address your goals and needs.
I
wish you OUTstanding love and relationships!
Warmly,
Michele
