A growing number of them are right here.  Whether you are single, partnered, or somewhere in between, you will find a variety of women who are just as curious as you are, to find other women for friendship, and in some cases more.   What can I expect from joining this group?  It's pretty simple, really.  When you join the FREE online group, you will have unlocked the door to...   instant opportunity to connect with local lesbians (there are both single and partnered members welcome to this group - so don't assume all are "available" though) via profiles with information about interests, likes, dislikes, an the option to maintain an online journal, or start a discussion through the forums current  information about local events (live music, plays, etc), and social opportunities (pitch-ins, game nights, etc) where you will likely be among many other lesbians  forums where lesbians will be talking about topics of interest and sharing ideas about what to do weekly emails called "blinks" with a run-down of local happenings information about physical health and personal growth options for women   What if I don't want my identity revealed because I am not "out"? Simply join the group with an anonymous email (sign up with an email that does not include your name in it - create a new free one through yahoo.com or another free service if need be).  You can still participate and interact with other, just simply avoid revealing your name on the public forums.   Who started this, and why? I am Michele O'Mara.  I am approaching my tenth year together with my partner, Teresa, with whom I am raising our twin sons, Mitchell and Cameron.    I am also a mental health therapist, specializing in work with GLBT folks - and I have been for over a decade now.  As you might imagine, I've met a lesbian or two over the years, and the single most common frustration that all lesbians share with me is their difficulty, and frustration, they experience when trying to meet new friends, or find women to whom they are attracted.  This site is designed for both.  Therefore, it's not a dating site, and it's not a friendship-only site - it's an All-Things-Lesbian site.    Through the years, I have met so many amazing women with the same complaint - "I feel so isolated" - and she continues to reassure these women that  they are not alone.  And more than that, my hope is to really demononstrate with this group that there really are other lesbians out there - just like you.   Who might I meet in this online group? There are the wild and single, the settled and happy.  There are the dating kind, the married kind, and the kind that just aren't sure if they are single or not. There's the lipstick variety, the intellectually-oriented, the career focused, the sports oriented, the feminist, the activist, the partier, the club-goer, the home-body, the shy ones, the gregarious ones, the risk takers, the travelers, the simple, the complicated, the tall the short, the thin and the not thin, those preferring a Harley to a car, the environmentalists, the entrepreneurs, the networkers to the shift-workers, the non-drinkers, the drinkers, the  parents, the "just-out", the "just-divorced-this-is-all-so-new-and-scary," the spiritually-focused, the religiously-averse, the funny, the serious, the young, the old, and the in-between... these and more are among the women you may discover by joining Indylesbians.
