Many
gay men and lesbians have difficulty scheduling traditional
counseling sessions for various reasons. Some can not find
a knowledgeable or sensitive gay-affirming counselor in their
area. Others have busy lives and schedules and the limits
of in-office scheduling times make it difficult to meet in
person. There are also gay men and lesbians who simply do
not want the level of care provided by in-office mental health
counseling, yet they are interested in developing greater
skills, knowledge, and insight about their relationships and
their selves.
Maybe
phone counseling is for you. This service is best suited
for gay men and lesbians seeking support and education for
issues related to their sexual orientation, their relationships,
and their life as a gay man or lesbian. Phone counseling
is a specific service designed for concrete issues, and is not
appropriate for those who are currently suffering from an active
mental health condition that is best served in traditional
counseling (such as Major Depression, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD,
Borderline Personality Disorder, or an unmanaged chemical
dependency).
Please
Note: Although Michele O'Mara is a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker and does offer mental health counseling, this
service does not constitute mental health
counseling. Unlike traditional counseling, you will
receive directed and personalized lesbian relationship advice,
or gay relationship advice, and coming out advice, among other
advice about being gay and lesbian. If you are in need of mental health counseling, click

situation call 911.
